Middle of the Term Blogging

We've only reached the mid-point of the semester, which totally sucks because I cannot stand to attend one more class this term. I like all my classes (well, all but Admin Law), but I am BORED out of my fvcking mind.

Even my sex class is boring. Yeah, ok, gays are not a protected class so private corporations, the government (especially the military!), and even some citizens claiming rights under the First Amendment are free to treat them like crap. I. Get. It. Can we talk more about the thirty-page paper of law review quality you expect me to write? Oh, we get a two-day break to write and do research? And, that is when we're supposed to work on making cogent and concise arguments? I think I just did that in about two sentences (see above).

Constitutional Law is okay. No attendance requirement is a bonus. The professor is not a very good teacher and is a bit scattered, but at least he stopped wandering around the classroom and has learned to sit in his assigned spot at the lectern.

Finally, we get to Administrative Law, which is the bane of my existence. Assignments, reading and a midterm! Oh, and did I mention my Con Law prof is also my Admin Law prof? It's a double batch of chaos. The midterm was yesterday and had I not attended the review session in which the TA basically gave us the midterm, I might have panicked.

Instead, I was in familiar territory because the review hypo was nearly identical to the exam question. I used paragraph headings. I made good arguments. I finished before the allotted time. I have no idea how I did on the exam and I probably won't know until - um - Summer. Oh, yeah, didn't I tell you? My Prof. is notoriously late with grades. As in having-a-sitdown-with-the-Dean kind of late. Every semester.

I am enjoying law school but the grading snafus and the drudgery are getting to me. I have one more year of this before I get to experience real world snafus and drudgery that I honestly believe are inherent to the practice of law. Anyone reading this blog who is not yet in law school: you have been warned.

You're going to law school and you have three children? I'm single and childless and I can't fathom the idea of going to law school. I'm very impressed. :)

I found your website from the link on BlogHer. Welcome!

Thank you for the warm welcome! Now, allow me to pass along some words a wise neighbor once told me: Don't envy a crazy woman! :)
