The good: the billing requirements are ridiculously low. Around 1500 hours per year or roughly 30 hours per week. I have my own office with a nice view, my own parking spot, and a team of assistants at my disposal. I can telecommute if I need to and the office is actually family friendly - it's not a bald-faced lie told to get associates in the door. Plus, my salary is significantly higher than what public interest work pays.
The bad: nothing
So, you're probably wondering how a slacker like me, who is in the bottom half of her class, got this cushy law firm job. Remember my post about The Hidden Job Market? Well, I tapped it. I have a friend who has a firm, I reached out to him, and the rest is networking history.

You are far from a slacker... you are kickass! I think what I admire most about you is that you push all the BS that doesn't fit into your life to the side and just do you. I've been hanging around my 20yr old sister too much!

I LOVE your blog! It's very encouraging. I'm trying not to comment on every post! What does bottom half of your class mean? My biggest worry is not getting accepted to law school, but once I'm in I think we can figure out everything else. I also think I'll do well on the LSAT, but my GPA was low since I was still wrapped in trying to work through gregious domestic violence issues and abuse from my parents and sibilings and I was only 17 when I went to college.
Guardian Ad Litem is something I'm considering. We'll see. I would be good at it. I'm caring, but more of a thinker. I can relate well to people and think clearly in challenging situations. I enjoying arguing and mediation and most of all, helping people.
