Finding My Way

I am sending a HUGE 'Thank You' out east today because Andrea's post illuminated an opportunity, that I had not even considered, which fits perfectly with the grand scheme I have for my post-law school life.

I had perused the Equal Justice Works page probably a half dozen times but had never quite found what I sought until PBB smacked me upside the head with it: a fellowship. But, of course! I want to do Public Interest work in an area that excites me but I also really love working with the group of folks with whom I'm currently employed. A fellowship lets me have the best of both worlds. I am confident my current employer will sponsor me but, if not, I am on a few committees with two directors of major legal aid entities who would probably give my project a home.

Applications are due in September so I have some time to prepare my packet. I already have a really good idea of what my proposal will be. The requisite key phrases '"direct representation" and "high impact" are already in my vocabulary. "Economic development and empowerment" are in there, too. Along with "low-income families." If you are a regular reader, then you already know where I am heading, so you may as well stick around for the ride. Misery loves company. Even if the misery is voluntary.
