Breckenridge

One of the amazing things about living in Colorado is there is always something going on in our state. Mountain festivals, street fairs, excellent skiing, and beautiful hikes are only a small slice of Colorado life.

This year I've been on a mission to explore my state. So far we've traveled to Aspen, Glenwood Springs, various other spots in between and, most recently, Breckenridge for Oktoberfest. Breck is officially my new favorite mountain town.

Madhubby first visited Breckenridge twenty years ago as a high-schooler; his family would fly west from their Virginia digs for a week of skiing. But he hadn't been to Breckenridge since moving to Colorado nearly twelve years ago. I'd never been and it was love at first sight.

Breckenridge is everything I love about mountain towns: funky, eclectic, and full of neat local shops. I'm hooked but I probably won't go back this year because tourists will soon descend for ski season and they always seem to disrupt the easy rhythm of mountain life.

I just returned from a conference at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. What a beautiful place (a very over priced beautiful place though) and the weather was perfect. I'm still not moving from my plains state though.

It is very expensive here. I get depressed when I compare how much house we could get in other places for what we spend to live here. Still, I can't imagine ever leaving.
